Gluten Free Christmas Markets 2025
The most beautiful and peaceful time of the year is almost here, and how can you dive into the Christmas spirit than by visiting a Christmas market and trying the traditional chimney cakes, mulled wine, and all the other delights?
You’re probably thinking: “What am I going to eat at these Christmas Markets? Nothing there will be gluten-free and safe!”. We’ll explore the answer to that in this article:
Gluten Free Christmas Markets in Germany
Sasbachwalden Christmas Market (28-30 November 2025 & 6-7 December 2025)
“Our joint heart project is taking place for the 8th time this year and is now the largest gluten-free Christmas market in Germany. Over two weekends and five days, the Kurpark offers everything a gourmet’s heart desires and puts us in a magical mood for Christmas.
Around two dozen exhibitors under the direction of the Gasthaus Bischenberg invite you to enjoy carefree indulgence. In festively decorated wooden stalls, they present everything that makes the Advent season so unspeakably beautiful. From traditional Christmas treats such as gingerbread to Christmas biscuits, cakes, sweet and savoury waffle delicacies and hearty specialities such as sausages and steak in a ‘Weck’. Whether burgers or tarte flambée, everything is gluten-free. There are also all kinds of delights from the pasta kitchen, such as spaetzle, Schupfnudeln and Maultaschen. One exhibitor will even spoil you with Grisons specialities. And there is flamed salmon in a crispy roll as well as many other delicacies. All the delicacies that people with coeliac disease often have to do without in everyday life are available here in ‘abundance’. The exhibitors attach great importance to high-quality and natural ingredients in order to offer visitors an authentic treat. The scent of Christmas, cinnamon and sugar wafts through the market. There are crêpes and many other delicacies. Here, young and old come to feast and savour, whether GLUTEN-affected or not.
This Christmas market is special in many ways. Not only are all the dishes gluten-free and some lactose-free and vegan, they also taste incredibly delicious. The exhibitors are also very special! This is not an off-the-peg Christmas market. Almost all of the exhibitors are affected by intolerances themselves and most of the stall holders have other jobs. The gluten-free Christmas market in Sasbachwalden is therefore an initiative by those affected for those affected. We are a ‘Christmas market family’.
Children with coeliac disease are particularly well catered for: anyone who wants to can decorate a gingerbread man with all the trimmings. Or recite a poem to Father Christmas and receive a present from the big sack. There is face-painting for children with the make-up fairy and the extensive spa park invites you to run around while the adults enjoy lovingly made arts and crafts from the region.”
Tip: Take plenty of cash as most of the stalls are cash only!

A very special Christmas market, located in a wooded area with an adjacent lake, in 76684 Östringen-Tiefenbach.
The market is organised by the Hotel Kreuzberghof in collaboration with Café unbeschwert.

Scheidegger Christmas Market (29 November 2025 – 25 January 2026)
Scheidegger is renowned for its gluten free options, and their market will not disappoint!
“From the first weekend of Advent until January 25, 2026, numerous festively decorated squares and winter wonderlands invite visitors to a magical stroll through Scheidegg. The “Scheidegger Winterwelten,” with their enchanting lights, promise a beautiful prelude to Advent and the holidays. The route leads from the town entrance at the roundabout, through the Pfarrer-Kneipp-Park, to the church square. A lantern-lit path then leads along the Scheidegger Höhenweg to the large swing and the spa ponds – a winter walk that holds many surprises for visitors of all ages, even after the Christmas season.
Right at the entrance to the town, visitors are greeted by a festively decorated roundabout. For over 20 years, the local spa and tourism association has transformed this roundabout into a giant Advent wreath. The path continues through a fairytale forest of lights in the Pfarrer-Kneipp-Park. Here, children can explore a small fairytale landscape featuring stories from around the world. The town hall is festively decorated, and a Christmas-decorated horse-drawn carriage awaits visitors at the entrance. While the town hall square is illuminated and decorated for winter, children can traditionally send their wishes to the Christ Child from the “Heavenly Post Office.” A nativity scene exhibition can be admired in the church square.
From the center of Scheidegg, the Lantern Trail leads through an atmospheric winter wonderland along the high-altitude path to the famous giant swing at Kreuzberg. The walk through the snow-covered landscape ends at the spa ponds, which transform into a glittering ice world. Numerous decorative elements enhance the frosty, fairytale atmosphere and make the evening stroll a truly special experience. A particular highlight is the lovingly designed hut on the Theatron, which, with its decorative and interactive features, invites visitors to immerse themselves in the winter wonderland. The traditional winter village beneath the chestnut trees in Scheffau completes the diverse offerings.”
